Wilpattu National Park
Considered as one of the world’s top national parks for its leopard population, Wilpattu is located in the north-west coast low land dry zone of Sri Lanka. Residing at one of the hotels near Wilpattu National Park is not a must, especially when you can set off on captivating excursions to this wildlife sanctuary from Kalundewa Retreat.
Wilpattu is famous for:
- Leopards (Panthera pardus kotiya)
- Reptiles : Monitor lizard (Varanus bengalensis), mugger crocodile (Crocodylus parustris), common cobra (Naja naja), Indian python (Python molurus)
- Birds : Sri Lanka Junglefowl (Gallus lafayetti), little cormorant, the painted stork
